We are preparing to attend the 2016 FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association National Leadership Conference during September 15-17, Birmingham, Alabama! You can register at http://fbicaaa-bham.org/.   We now have membership and representatives in Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina. This will give our state a full range of participants and we expect to expand our outreach.  We also participate in the monthly phone calls with other chapters and the National Best Practices Survey.

This past weekend several members participated in the International Festival at the State Fairgrounds.  This is an event showcasing many countries around the world though food, dance and cultural awareness.  The alumni association assisted Denise at the booth and answered questions, distributed educational materials about the FBI.  This is an important community outreach activity and we hope to partner on more activities.

Also in May, we held our Annual Reunion and Meeting at the Columbia Field Office where we were greeted by the Field Office Staff and David A. Thomas, Special Agent in Charge.  Benedict College presented to us the Benedict College School of HASS Mentoring and Speakers Program 2016 partnering with FBICCAAA.  We have a MOU on file in the Office.  More information will be getting out to you as this inclusive to us all. We expect to partner with them on upcoming activities starting in the fall of 2016.

We are looking to the membership for someone to develop our Facebook and Twitter accounts.  Those who have ideas can contact me at brooksc@benedict.edu. Also, we can now look toward the Leadership in Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina in planning Fund Raising Programs to support FBICCAAA Community Service Projects, like Camp Kemo and to maintain our expense.  We look for you to submit ideas and/or suggestions to the Board.  One Fund Raising idea has come forward concerning   t-shirt designs and would like your input.

I am encouraged to have our Past President Saundra LIgon with us for her knowledge and wisdom of the Association.  I am looking forward toward a working relationship with Denise M. Taiste, our Public Affairs Specialist (Community Relations Unit) Columbia FBI Field Office.

I thank you for voting and electing me to the office of President of FBICCAAA.  I am certain our elected Board is grateful as well.  We can accomplish great Service Work for our Community while working together as a Team for the Cause.

Charles Brooks Jr.

2016 President
